This is a truly beautiful occasion. A rare moment of collective joy, not least for moment when the doctor examines your results and tells you the nasty urinary tract infection teachers, who are doing backflips out of sheer excitement. When the election results landed, headmasters across Poland hit their local off-licence and went on a week long bender. Joy. Like that has cleared up. I see it in my daughters’ school. The staff are positively beaming. They are happier. Smilier. Teachers have arguably one of the most important and difficult jobs in the land, and yet they were hobbled by having the most PiS politician ever in charge of them.
